A husband-and-wife team who moved from Santa Monica, California to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Their shop was in Topanga Canyon and was a destination for artists in the entertainment business as they were listed as the Best Rug Store in LA.
All of their rugs are hand selected from rug producing countries such as Afghanistan, Turkey, Iran and Central Asia, and are curated to be of natural fibers of wool, cotton and silk.

Our Story
With over 35 years of experience, Lavinia Ruiz, a distinguished artist, graduated with honors in Plastic Arts from the Instituto Allende of the Universidad de Guanajuato.
Starting her own business in 2002 with her husband Ian, Lavinia’s Framing thrives today, boasting a team of eight trained artisans. They specialize in preserving traditional techniques like “glass and brass” framing, reviving a local craft.
Lavinia’s Framing handles projects nationwide, collaborating with prestigious galleries and contributing to high-profile exhibits. Notable achievements include framing Princess Diana’s mink coat and showcasing works in the Museo Soumaya and José Vasconcelos Library.
